About
-----
Laser Mayhem is a puzzle game based on Laserstrike for Windows by Kevin Ng.
Version 1.1 is now for ION.

New Features
------------
Laser Mayhem now uses external levels and comes with a level editor for
Windows 3.1 or above. Upon starting the game, you are taken to the level you
were up to when you last played that particular level set.

How to Run
----------
Send LASER.83p (or LASER.8xp for the 83+) and LASERLEV.83p (LASERLEV.8xp) file to your calculator. Start ION, highlight Laser Mayhem v1.1 and press Enter. Now you can run Laser Mayhem.

If you want to play external levels, you can remove the Standard Levels if you
like by deleting LASERLEV from your calculator. Make sure you send the
external levels after having sent the Laser Mayhem program file.

How to Play
-----------
Here is a description of each block in the game. Level 1 in the Standard
Levels contains every block, and teaches you almost everything about the game.

            Iris

Shoot this twice to complete the level.

            Track Tank

Fire these by moving your cursor onto them and pressing 2nd.
They can be moved back and forward along a track using Arrows
(see below). If one of these is hit it will be destroyed.

            Pod Tank

Fire these in the same way as Track Tanks. They cannot be
moved, but will rotate 90 degrees clockwise when hit by a
            laser.

        Arrow

Move your cursor onto these and press 2nd to move a Track Tank
          along the track.

                Track

This is what Tank Tracks move along. If it is hit by a laser
                it will be destroyed.

                Mirror

These reflect lasers by 90 degrees when hit on the slanted
side. They will move when hit from behind.

                Movable Block

These move when hit by a laser.

        Steel

These block the path of lasers.

        Brick

These are destroyed after two shots.

          Gate

These let one laser beam pass through before they close up.

              Acid

Acid can eat through everything except more acid. If there is
nothing in its path, acid will move and not be used up.

            Rotating Gate

When fired through the gap, these will rotate 90 degrees. When
hit on the side, the laser will be blocked.

In-game Keys
------------
Arrows Move cursor
2nd Fire tank (when cursor is on tank)
Move tank (when cursor is on arrow)
   +/- Change level
   DEL Restart level
 CLEAR Exit game

Level Editor
------------
The level editor runs under Windows 3.1 or above. Just run the LASERED.EXE
file. You need the following files either in the same directory or in the
Windows system directory:

Included in the ZIP file:
    CMDIALOG.VBX
    COMMDLG.DLL
    PICCLIP.VBX
NOT included in the ZIP file:
    VBRUN300.DLL

If you get an error saying that you need VBRUN300.DLL, you can download
it from the Laser Mayhem web page at http://move.to/badja

Once you have saved your level set, all you need to do is assemble it with
ION. You can get ION from the www.ticalc.org or joewing.calc.org

To assemble a level set called "custom.z80", you would type:

    asm custom

Then send the 83P or 8xp file to your calculator (after having sent Laser Mayhem).
